Day 1:
July 30
Arrive at San Jose's Juan Santamaria
International Airport where you will be met by our Adventure Travel
reps and transferred to the renowned Hotel Melia Cariari . Following
check-in, take the rest of the afternoon to stroll the beautiful
grounds, work out in the well equipped gym, play tennis or golf,
swim in the resort's three pools, or just relax. At sundown, we will
have a typical Costa Rican Dinner at the resort followed by group
activities. You can then enjoy the hotel casino or turn in early to
rest up for the exciting day to come.
Day 2:
July 31
Awake early and choose from three
tours. Take a heart pounding white water rafting trip down the Class
IV Pacuare-one of the worlds top rafting rivers. On this adventure,
you will see an incredible array of plant and wild life while
paddling down the rapids of this rainforest river. Rafting
experience or an adventurous spirit is needed to participate on this
trip-you must also be in good physical condition. For those wanting
a calmer rafting trip, the Class III Reventazon is the perfect
option. It is a nice combination of swift rapids mixed in with
tranquil pools. The third tour option is hiking in the Poas Volcano
National Park and La Paz Waterfall Gardens.

Hike through beautiful trails to the
magical Poas Volcano Crater, one of the largest geysers in the
world. We will then continue on to the La Paz Waterfall Gardens
where you will see exotic butterflies and hummingbirds in an
enclosed observatory. We will continue on by hiking into the forest
past 5 magnificent waterfalls. Lunch will be served on each tour.
Upon conclusion of the tours, you will return back to the Melia
Cariari in San Jose .

Day 3:
August 1
Take a scenic 4 hour drive up to the
Guanacaste or "gold coast" region which is situated in the Pacific
northwest of the country. The trip will take you down the Western
Central Valley Mountains and through the flatlands of this Pacific
Province . The scenery will change from forest to savannah to dry
tropical forest. You will arrive at the Tamarindo Diria where you
will spend the next three days relaxing on the beach, swimming in
the magnificent blue waters of the Pacific, engaging in a variety of
land and water activities, or just paddling up to the pool bar for
an exotic cocktail. At sundown, the dance floors of the local clubs
will beckon with rhythmic Latin sounds as well as good old American
Rock and Roll.

Day 4:
August 2
Choose from two tours. Take a
horseback-riding excursion deep into the jungle and trek across
Costa Rica 's rich topography. Keep an eye out for monkeys, parrots,
toucans, sloths, and other Costa Rican wildlife. For those who are
not equine aficionados, the alternative excursion will be a Canopy
Tour . Climb up to start the multiple platform canopy experience,
then glide from tree to tree and get a bird's eye view from the
canopy of the forest. Upon completion of your outing, return to
Diriá and spend the rest of the day as you choose.

Day 5:
August 3
Choose from two tours. Board a boat
and take an enjoyable ride to a special "snorkeling" location.. Your
guide will lead you to the best spots for sighting all types of
colorful marine life; if you are lucky, Blue Pacific Dolphins may
stop by for a visit. Those not wanting to snorkel will have the
option of going on the Canopy tour (see day 4). Upon completion of
your excursion, return to Diria and spend the rest of the day as you
choose. Following dinner, we'll head to the disco for another night
of dancing and fun.

Day 6:
August 4
Take a charming 4 1/2 hour ride
through the lowlands of the Pacific, up through rich farmland and
cattle country, and through quaint traditional towns. Stop at a
delightful roadside restaurant for a typical Costa Rican Lunch. The
scenic drive will then take you to the shores of Lake Arenal , the
country's largest, and end when you reach the world-renowned hot
springs of Tabacon Resort.

Tabacon Resort sits at the base of
the Arenal Volcano, one of the most active Volcanos in the Western
Hemisphere . After checking into your hotel room, enter the resort
and explore the lush tropical gardens, soak in the thermal waters of
the Tabacon River and thoroughly relax every bone in your body. At
your option, you may choose from a wide array of spa services
(additional charge). Following dinner, we have a special surprise in
store for you, an open bar hot springs pool party. 
Day 7:
August 5
Choose from two tours. Hike in the
rain forest in a group led by a professional guide on the
magnificent "hanging bridges" tour. On this tour, you will hike on
rainforest trails over 15 hanging bridges. You will have unrivaled
views of the forest, rivers, and waterfall below. See extraordinary
panoramic views of the Arenal Volcano in addition to Monkeys, Sloths,
Coatimundis, Parrots, Toucans and other exotic birds. The second
tour option is Canyoning . Be transported to a remote waterfall
canyon. Rappel down 4 routes into the water below. Rappels range
from 20-50 meters-this activity is sure to get your blood flowing.

Upon completion of the tour, return
to Tabacon and enjoy the resort. At sundown, we will have a Shabbat
dinner -Jewish traditions and Costa Rican grill cooking will blend
to make this a unique experience. The restaurant faces the
magnificent Arenal Volcano and weather permitting, we will gaze at
lava flows spewing from its mouth.
Day 8:
August 6
You will have two options to choose
from:
Option one:
Spend the morning relaxing at the resort and then head back to San
Jose in the afternoon. Upon arrival in San Jose, you will check back
into the Melia Cariari; enjoy the amenities of the resort or rest up
for the evening's activities. Dinner will be at a delightful
restaurant where memories and stories of the past week will be
shared.
Option two:
Spend the day enjoying the Allegro Papagayo resort. Overnight at
Allegro and the following morning, transfer to the Liberia
International Airport for your return flight home.

Day 9:
August 7
You will be transferred to the airport for your return trip home. |

Day 1: July 2

The second
option is a nature lovers dream-the Cano Negro Wildlife Refuge
Floating Safari Tour. You will awake early and take a 1-½ hour drive
to Los Chiles, a village only 4 km from the Nicaraguan border. Here,
you will board a boat and begin your 4 hour floating safari through
rich ra info rest and marshes until we reach the wildlife refuge.
Along the river, you will have the opportunity to see various types
of monkeys, sloths, crocodiles, lizards, snakes, turtles, fish, and
literally thousands of birds. The refuge is one the most
biologically diverse areas in the Americas . This is a full day
adventure that will have you back in Tabacon in time for Shabbat.
At sundown, we will have a Shabbat dinner at Tabacon-Jewish
traditions and Costa Rican grill cooking will blend to make this a
unique experience. The restaurant faces the magnificent Arenal
Volcano and weather permitting, we will gaze at lava flows spewing
from its mouth

Day 8:
July 9
Everyone will
have breakfast together and then head back to San Jose. On the ride
back, we will stop in Sarchi, the handcrafts and arts capital of
Costa Rica; here you will have a chance to shop for traditional
Costa Rican wares. Upon arrival in San Jose, you will check back
into the Melia Cariari; enjoy the amenities of the resort or rest up
for the evening's activities. Dinner will be at a delightful
restaurant where memories and stories of the past week will be
shared.
Day 9: July 10
You will be
transferred to the airport for your return trip home |
